Little Engine Ventures Acquires Lafayette Tool & Die

Little Engine Ventures (LEV) recently acquired Lafayette Tool & Die of Lafayette, IN from Larry and Judy Skinner. Judy will begin a transition toward retirement and Larry will remain on staff and serve as the lead toolmaker.

“The introduction to Daryl and his model with Little Engine Ventures was good timing. I was not sure how I was going to transition the company. I wanted to stay involved but liked the idea of having business help to take it to the next level.” – Larry Skinner

Skinner founded the business in 1995 when his previous employer moved manufacturing to Mexico. Since then he has added machinery and staff in order to provide reliable, timely, and high quality tool and die making services to a diverse set of manufacturers large and small in the region. The firm will continue with the same mission and be patient and opportunistic with hiring topnotch people.

“Larry and Judy are amazing people. In our first meeting they recalled my parents names, whom they last visited while members of a young farmers group in 1983,” Daryl Starr said, “I had to apologize for not remembering them. I was only three years old!”
