The General Partner oversees capital allocation. This is a fancy way of saying the GP is responsible for allocating time and assets on behalf of the passive, limited partners.

Time is the most precision resource. The General Partner is involved in all hiring, firing, processes and procedures of companies controlled by the partnership. Cash is allocated based upon available management capacity, margin of safety and attractiveness of the opportunity. 

Daryl Starr started Little Engine Ventures with friend and vendor Mikel Berger in 2016. The big idea at founding was to acquire many small, local companies, add new management, enabling technology, and otherwise go about scaling them. Some of these companies would remain long term, and some would be sold. Some would be sold profitably and some would be constituted as learning experiences. It was not realistic to know exactly which would be which.
